Tony Karrer and I connected on the benefits of community blogs and posted that conversation on his blog.  The one BIG thing that blogging and other social software allows is to tap into the current of informal learning in a way that hasn’t been done before.  80% of what we learn happens informally and blogging is a way to open a window into it, guide it.  That’s a powerful concept.

I would love to know where you came up with the number 80% ? Mostly because I would love to use that in my presentaitions and writing? Any idea?

Bobbe – There are a couple of different sources that state that number. I thought you comment was such a good one that I created a new post that discusses these numbers, some resources on the impact of informal learning and also what it means to e-Learning.
